Die Herausforderungen einer emissionsarmen, effizienten, ressourcen- und klimaschonenden Mobilität von übermorgen zu meistern und mit den Energiewandlern der Zukunft auszustatten, ist die Vision des Forschungsfeldes Alternative Energiewandler. Aktuell wird dazu an der Effizienzsteigerung der Wandlung von chemischer in elektrische Energie (Range-Extender), der Restenergienutzung und der Effizienzsteigerung der Wandlung von elektrischer in mechanische Energie (Elektroantriebe) geforscht.
