Facility Management and Technical Infrastructure

DLR's Facility Management is responsible for building works and infrastructure maintenance at DLR sites and, together with DLR Safety and Security, it oversees occupational safety, health and environmental protection. In addition to site and building planning, procurement and operations, it also provides on-demand guidance on the operation of DLR facilities and institutes.

Technical Infrastructure includes the main department 'Systemhaus Technik', an engineering and integrated production facility for the construction of scientific equipment. Systemhaus Technik focuses on experimental technology, systems, system components and test support. It supports numerous large-scale research facilities such as wind tunnels and engine and materials test stands. It specialises in model construction and fibre composite technology and encompasses development and construction services for DLR research institutes and facilities as well as product manufacturing in the areas of electronics and precision mechanics (for example, the development of navigation systems) and mechatronics (the development of robotic systems).
